Watercolor Detailed Project - Finished

This is my second watercolor that I've finished and it's my detailed project. My medium used is watercolor, and watercolor pencils for the iris. The most challenging part of this was the eyelashes and the iris, to get them to look realistic. My favorite part to do was the splatters and the different colors around the eye. It's title could be something like Tie Dye Eye because it rhymes and matches with the tie dye background. I definitely thought outside the box for this project because although it's realistic, it also is slightly abstract. There is a lot of detail, and I really enjoyed doing this project. I'm glad it's finally finished.

Watercolor Still Life in Progress

I think this work isn't turning out quite as I'd like at the moment, but it's still very much in progress. I'll watercolor it once I make the compass bigger and more detailed. I can make it better by actually watercoloring it, it doesn't look very good with faint drawings on a book paper. I do feel challenged to draw and paint the still lifes with accuracy, I hope to make it look much more realistic. The compass right now needs a lot of work, and the flowers don't look very real, so this is definitely challenging. It's only day one of starting the project so I think so far its doing well!

In Progress Watercolor Landscape

This is my in progress landscape made of watercolor. It's a landscape of London, England. I used different  color watercolors, using a drip effect on it. To make the ferris wheel, I used a white crayon to create a wax resistance. I poured salt on the colors and dabbed them with a paper towel to create a light-dark effect on it. I really like how it's turning out so far, and I plan on trimming it down and adding a few more colors to finish it off.

1. This work is turning out really well, how I expected it to. I think it's pretty accurate as to what I envisioned in my mind before creating this piece.

2. I feel like color wheels aren't very challenging, yet are at the same time. They're the most basic things in art class but the way we've done this with tints and shades I think makes it a bit more challenging. Other than that, and getting the colors just right, I don't feel like this piece challenged me very much.

3. I can make it better by going over some of the color again to avoid the lines and especially go over the black background again. That would make the color differences more clear and impressive.

This is the final product. I went back over the black and a couple of the colors in her skirt and put a gray line to show her chin from her chest. I really like how its turned out and how far along it came. I think as I do more projects with paint Iĺl become even better at it.
